Q&A the Bookeeper Music Artist Interview

How did u get into Chh?

The rescue mission homie Antuan. He put me on to the sounds of Cross Movement, Flame, Lecrae, etc. along with others at Calvary Chapel of Taylorsville where I first attended when Jesus saved me.

What do you hope people will get out of your music and your new album?

Honestly, my prayer is that people come away from the upcoming project and old music knowing that there’s still GENUINE believers out there. That’d be hope for the world.

How much have you grown on this project, talent wise and Spiritual?

Talent wise, a LOT, this project, really has not launched yet and I’m playing around with concepts at present. Spiritually I believe I’m right where I need to be, a submitted servant dying to self as a husband, contributor within society, a present father for my son, and being a good brother to the body.

Who influenced you the most in music and in life?

Second to Jesus, is have to say my adopted grandpa, Leon Matthews Sr. who is with Jesus now. He planted the crucial seed with a godly example at the peak of my curiosity as a teen.

Who are u listening to that we should be listening too?

New Taelor Gray, old Taelor Gray, GS, Datin, I’m gonna shout out the homie B.o.b.b.y. Phoenix, UT local who is on point in Jesus, choppin bars like tepanyaki wit it.

Who would you like to work with in the future?

JGivens, and Taelor Gray, maybe Ruslan.

One of the biggest topics in the music business now is streaming, how does that affect you as an artist?

I’m going to go positive here and say it’s going to help not hurt. I was born in ’86, so I’m not all Millennial in values and perspective on life, but I’m flexible with the way things are going. God gives the increase anyways…

How hard is it to separate business and your ministry?

Really not that difficult because I’m doing it all as free music for now. I plan on becoming an independent artist and music won’t be my primary stream of maintenance so I’m good in Jesus. Check proverbs 10:22 to see what I mean.

“The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” Proverbs 10:22

How are you changing the culture for God?

I truly cannot answer this question to the fullness of what is being asked. Because I’m not changing anything it seems. But I know that I lead a bible study at church on Saturdays with a brother that graciously asked me to, and I’m planning them funerals daily at home. So I guess I’m changing my home culture, and maybe influencing some fellow believers for Kingdom Culture. Tryna keep it humble.

On your longest day and hardest battle what scripture do you find strength in?

Romans 8:28, minus the soft cupcake cushy opinions. Cuz I know that verse has been molested hard. It’s really true and life reflecting if you take it there with Jesus in prayer.

Romans 8.32
