My name is Brian Young, Stage name CAPA. Capa originally started from the name “Caper” which was crime-related. Through the years I changed it to CAPA pronounced like capability, and also capable. I wanted to change it so it would mean something positive. I also have had this meaning C.A.P.A. (CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS) I changed my life and gave my heart to God and it was the best choice I have ever made in my life. I have found peace in God that I was missing all of the years.
Through the streets, drug, guns, violence and eventually prison, I finally made this choice and I’m glad I did. I will start by saying I am so glad I have changed my music as well. Music has run through my veins for over 2 decades. The latest performance was at the Prayze Factor People’s Choice Awards August 4th-6th 2014 in Columbia S.C.
This was a long process that involved voting physically and financial support from the fans. I had a total of 1,150,803 votes. I won “Best Holy Hip Hop Artist Of The Year Award” ..and also Grand Champion of the Season 4 “Prayze Factor People’s Choice Awards 2014”. I also performed at St. Peters World Outreach Center in Winston Salem with over 3,000 people, on New Years’ Eve 2014. T.D. Jakes preached there and also Deion Sanders.
I have done a countless amount of shows in churches, charity events, and anything involving the youth. I am currently in Bible College training to be a Preacher. I use what I learn through life and real experiences with the help of God, to write music.
My heart goes into my music. God is my life and I will write for Him until my days come to an end. My music has touched MANY MANY lives and I pray God will continue to use me to spread his word. I just started gospel music 3 years ago and have completed 3 albums.
Through the history of my whole career as a secular artist, that led up to where I am now, it has been a long hard road. I don’t regret my past, I believe it made me the man I am today. Here is my PAST BIO just so you can see the accomplishments I made as an Artist.
I got the spot to open up for “gucci mane”, “plies” “lil boosie”, “lil webbie”, “crime mobb”, “pastor troy”, “gorilla zoe”, “hurricane chris”, and a few others. this was august 4th 2007 at the cricket arena in Charlotte NC with a crowd of over 8,000 sold out.
In 2003 I won a competition, 3 days, 3 rounds, to open up for “lil jon and the east side boyz”, “ying yang twins” and “three 6 mafia” on Christmas day. “Ying yang twins” and “three 6 mafia” came before me i came on stage at 1030 at night right before “lil jon” and once again the show was sold out with over 8,000.
Both of these shows were at the cricket arena (now known as Bojangles Arena) in Charlotte NC and I have both shows on video. My performance led to a few television appearances. I performed on World Wide Flava (Channel 21 out of Charlotte, NC) with Anthony Hamilton and The Crowes Nest on the UPN channel.
Over more than 20 years of music and writing lyrics, I’ve been presented on stage opening performances for old school artists such as Tony Toni Tone, Queen Pin, Akynele and accompanied him on a three-show tour, which included Wanda Dee, Soul fa Real, Craig Mack and Ronald Isley (AKA Mr. Biggs) from the Isley brothers.
I Also opened for Donnell Jones and performed in two shows with Sunshine Anderson. I have appeared as a freestyle INVALID RAP artist in twelve live radio interviews on W.P.E.G. Power 98 out of Charlotte, NC. I also have had many spins on that station.
I’ve had the opportunity to participate in many big events with known artists. I know the REALITY of my career as a professional HOLY HIP HOP ARTIST is yet to come. I have been through basic training and boot camp! I’m ready for war!! It’s a spiritual battle that is taking place. I’m a soldier for Christ now and no longer live for the world….the world has nothing for me. Jesus is my focus. God bless you thanks for checking me out.
