“What type of builder are you?”
“Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful.” (1 Corinthians 3:10 NLT)
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11 NLT)
“Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.” (1 Corinthians 3:12 NLT)
“But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.” (1 Corinthians 3:13 NLT)
Do you remember the story of the three little pigs? I think some how the owner of the house didn’t have room for the pigs so they sent them off to find their way. It was said that the pigs had to build houses because it was a big bad wolf in the forest that liked to eat pigs.
So the first little pig built his house of straw. In my child hood stories he was made out as lazy and didn’t like hard work.
The second little pig built his house out of sticks. Now he was smarter than the first pig but it was told to me that he liked to take shortcuts.
Now the third little pig built his house out of brick and he was explained as a hard worker that paid close attention to detail. We could even imagine that this house took longer to build than the other two houses because it was made out of brick.
As the story I recall went the big bad wolf came out the forest to eat the pigs because he was hungry. When he arrived at the first pig’s house he said, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.”
The first little pig said, “no, no, by the hair of my chiny chin chin.”
So the wolf said, “then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.”
The wolf was successful and the first pig escaped and ran next door to the pig that had his house made of sticks. The process continued again and the wolf was successful again and the two little pigs escaped and ran to the third little pigs house who’s house was made of brick.
So the wolf came, as he did to the other little pigs, and said, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.” “No, no, by the hair of my chiny chin chin.” “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.”
The wolf was unsuccessful this time and tried to trick the three little pigs out the house and after that didn’t work he tried to come down the chimney. The wolf landed in a pot of boiling water because the third little pig was prepared and the three little pigs had the big bad wolf for supper.???
We have to be prepared and work hard to build our foundation on THE FOUNDATION of GOD and have faith that if we do that when we are tested by the fire that we will be rewarded for what we have done for the Kingdom of God! What are you building your foundation on?
“If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.” (1 Corinthians 3:14 NLT)
“But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” (1 Corinthians 3:15 NLT)
