In my Bible it has a study section in the back where it has a list of 60 Christian characteristics and one of them is being loyal. It describes loyal as “showing my commitment to a person or cause at all times”. Who or what are you committed to? Jesus was, is and will always be committed to God the Father, and for that reason He died for our sins so we could be one with Him, the Father and the Holy Spirit.
John 15:13 (KJV) says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Jesus showed his love for us by dying for our sins. He also showed loyalty to His Father by obeying Him. Even in Jesus dispair, when He prayed for another way, he said, “not my will but Yours” to his Father.
In today’s society loyalty, commitment and love are words and character traits that seem like ancient history. But as Christians it’s time we live these words out, bring them back to life and show a dark word the light of Jesus. Because of his love, loyalty, commitment and sacrifice we are able to be right with God. This joy should be shared. It is our job to share this joy; the Good News.
John 15:11-15 (NKJV)
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
13 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
14 “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
15 “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
