Grace “Devotion”

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16 NLT)

In our culture when a person has good fortune it is called luck, but truly it is not luck but grace. God’s grace is why we are so fortunate. He chose to give us life instead of death, what we truly deserve.

Often in my prayers I pray for grace and mercy, and honestly I have prayed it so much, it just felt like a routine. I asked myself what is grace and mercy? What is the difference? This is what I found.

Grace is good will, loving-kindness, favor of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues (Strong’s concordance).

Mercy is kindness or good will towards the miserable and the afflicted, joined with a desire to help them, providence; the mercy and clemency of God in providing and offering to men salvation by Christ, the mercy of Christ, whereby at his return to judgment he will bless true Christians with eternal life. (Strong’s concordance)

Key Verse:

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly in the present age, (Titus 2:11, 12 NKJV)
