Inspired originally by the death of Ahmaud Arbery and then again by the death of George Floyd comes 19 year old Greg Hartley’s 3rd single of 2020: Free.
“Free” is a verse written as a method of letting Hartley’s emotions fly. Hartley raps over an energetic Boom-Bap beat produced by H3 Music, and touches on Racism, Police Brutality, Religion, and Politics.
Hartley writes: “I was really hurt by the death of Ahmaud Arbery. I saw many people in my area trying to justify his murder and I had to let some steam off. Then when George Floyd was murdered I knew I had to finish and release this song, but I wanted to wait until a respectable time. I hope this song can inspire and open communication among family and friends”
Hartley will also be donating 50% of the profits from this song to the organization BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective).
