Changing the culture 4 God - We Love Christian hip-hop #cc4G #tBK247 #CHH #hiphop|

How do you give advice?

If you follow this advice, and if God commands you to do so, then you will be able to endure the pressures, and all these people will go home in peace.” (Exodus 18:23 NLT)

What’s so remarkable about this scripture is how Moses father-in-law gave him the advice and then told Moses to check with God to see if this is what God wanted him to do.

I use to give advice to my friends about their marriages when they would ask me. They would hear me talk about my wife in a positive way all the time and everybody thought we were in the best marriage ever. At the time I was saying I was a Christian, but I wasn’t walking my life out as a Christian should be so I was giving some real bad advice about marriage. It was just a lot of male chauvinistic views on what I thought their wife’s should be doing and I was way out of line!

All of a sudden, just out of the blue one day my marriage took a nose dive for the worst! I panicked and when all else failed I found myself running into my old church dropping to my knees crying to God because my wife was on the brink of leaving me.

It’s so magnificently humbling that I serve a God who is in the restoration business! God restored me! God restored my marriage and what God showed me was a simple lesson I had to learn when He spoke to me. God said, “before you offer or before you receive advice; you need to check with Me first and you also need to tell them to check with Me on the advice you have given them.” Now when someone ask me for marriage advice I tell them to read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NLT, and read what Paul told the people about love. 😆

That’s a awsome devotion. I to find myself in the same predicament sometimes. People ask me what is the secret to a long and happy marriage. I have learned it is give and take. You just need God in your lives. Amen…
