On Friday, November 18, the independent Christian hip hop artist Hyun Sinne released his latest studio effort, a single entitled ‘GRND MSTR.’ The track, which will be available on Bandcamp, Noisetrade, and Soundcloud for free upon release, will also be distributed to multiple radio stations and websites. The release further solidifies Hyun Sinne’s place as a relevant and noteworthy contemporary hip hop artist in the Christian subgenera.
Previously from Atlanta, Hyun Sinne now lives in the Chicago area. His particularly unique stage name is a play on his middle name, and it means ‘faithful servant.’ Through his music, Hyun Sinne strives to be faithful to his calling: spreading the word of God through his talent and his music. His energy, he emphasizes, is focused squarely on faith and not fame.
Hyun Sinne’s signature style has been influenced by his southern hip hop roots, and his passionate wordplay is evocative of the golden era of hip hop as well. That of course, is then infused with a faith-based, uplifting message.
‘GRND MSTR’ is an artistic and musical parody of ‘IP Man,’ the 2008 biopic focused on the life of Yip Man, one of the greatest grandmasters of the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun, and the teacher of Bruce Lee. Christians, however, serve the greatest master and greatest teacher: Jesus Christ. He alone, Hyun Sinne explores in his new song, is the true master, teacher, and grandmaster.
