Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:8, 9 NIV)
Are you a weakling? Weakling is defined as a person who is physically or morally weak, lacking of physical strength or energy, lacking the power to perform a demanding tasks. As a stay at home mother of five I don’t consider myself a weakling. Remember that saying for the military, “We do more before 9am then most people do all day” that’s an understatement for me.
My life consist of teaching, training, preparing, cooking and cleaning; but to tell you the truth whether dealing with kids or life circumstances, there are times when I’m weak, vulnerable, doubtful and inadequate. I have moments when I just fall on my face and cry out to God, “Lord I’m not strong enough, smart enough, talented enough.” We all have those moments, moments that hold us back from becoming who God has called us to be.
WE FORGET WHO GOD IS!
What is it? What is the thing that’s holding you back? In order to obtain strength we must give it to God. At times we’re so caught up in our own pity party that we forget the promises of God. Actually we forget who God is. We forget that we serve a God who’s all knowing, a sovereign God with unlimited power. He is the only one who can give you the strength, wisdom, love and patience in the mist of your “thorn in the flesh”. I’m not ready, I’m not strong enough, I’m not smart enough? Whose telling you that? God says you can do all things through him who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13). Take power over your thorn… God says his grace is enough.
When I am vulnerable I am mostly dependent on God, but is this such a bad thing? God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV). As I look at this verse I understand that I don’t have to be strong enough. God gets the best of me when I’m weak. Only in God am I strong.. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (Ephesians 6:10 NIV). Dear brothers and sisters, I’ll say it again, BE STRONG IN THE LORD! Amen!
Please join us in prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank you for being my Rock when I am weak. Lord, help me to rely on your power and not my own. In Jesus Name, Amen!
