Kill Nerva – Romans 5:8

Scripture:  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). I can no longer live knowing that God is not with me. It’s so easy to work your way to the top when you have a team or a brand helping you look like something you’re really not behind closed doors. In the end, there is a big difference between talent and anointing – talent does not break yokes (Isaiah 10:27).

That’s what my new album is about. In “Kill Nerva, Pt. 1 you’ll hear me talking about the importance of killing the old nature within to walk in the likeness of Christ (Galatians 5, Ephesians 4). I thought I knew what it meant to be a “Christian” when in actuality I was still living in disobedience with a loss of intimacy with God.

I confess that I’ve been practicing religion for years without a true understanding of who God is. I volunteered in the church, I paid my tithes, I did many good things but I did not have a true life-changing relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I was on my way to hell until God pursued me. My life took a nasty turn and I had to make a serious decision. I heard God speak, “Repent or die in judgment!”

It can be so easy to get caught up in the distractions of this world practicing sin until you’re so far from God you can’t even realize it. It can be so easy to fool people but God will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7). My heart became harder the more I left my bible closed, which ultimately caused me to lose my joy in the Lord. I reached a point where I truly desired to be restored. I desired something more which nothing in this world could give me.

I had to acknowledge that my sinful lifestyle had placed a huge gap between our creator and myself. Now each day I find it imperative to examine my heart and mind to make sure I don’t lose my salvation. Without Jesus, I am the biggest phony and hypocrite. Praise God that If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
