About Kody Free:
Kody Free is a recording artist and producer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. With a unique outside-looking-in perspective of life, he paints vivid and honest scenes from his own life and others, seamlessly interweaving struggles along with themes of hope, faith, and joy.
Classically trained in piano and brass instruments, Kody Free took up production and rapping during his senior year of high school under the moniker Kode Red. After a friend’s death by suicide, Kody Free met artists that were also close to the friend and formed the band Stream Of Thought.
Kody Free released his debut mixtape in August of 2016, “The Kid From Somewhere.” It was well received in the local and underground communities. Kody Free began doing shows at local venues, as well as performing in Boston with Stream Of Thought.
The young artist began gaining some recognition after producing “Down For Me” by Jake Giller, which ended up on the local rap station, Go95. Altogether, Kody Free is a very versatile artist with a unique style and perspective, ready to prove his skills at every level and genre.
