Changing the Culture 4 God

Mother’s Boy “Devotion”

Mother's Boy "Devotion"
What a statement my mother gave me. I didn't understand how powerful her words were because I wasn't trying to hear that.

“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: (Ephesians 6:2 NLT)

Irregardless of how old we get and even after we get married. Your biological parents are still your parents.

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my mother. She’s God-fearing and she has made her share of mistakes but she’s always gave me the Word of God and she doesn’t sugar coat the truth with me. She’s never took sides between me and my brother and she’s never made me choose her over my wife. She respects my marriage and my house and I’m glad I’m able to go to her for advice, but this time she brought the advice to me.

I was having some issues of self-doubt and I stopped focusing on what God gave me and started pointing fingers at everyone around me. I forgot that God put this incredible team of friends and family around me in the first place and that God has already opened doors that I thought was going to be impossible to open.

Took God Out Of My Equation

The book and the company wasn’t progressing the way I thought we should be and I took God out of the equation and I tried to figure it out on my own and before I knew it; it was six months later and I hadn’t written a word in the book and the company was at a stand still. That’s when out of the blue my phone rang and it was my mother with some hard encouraging words.

I was complaining and she listened and then she said to me. “When God gives you a vision He will make sure it gets done! The only reason you won’t complete it is because you won’t let Him complete you.”

My mother went on to say; “that the enemy comes to confuse and bring self doubt and fear, and if you claim to be a child of God. You must stand on God’ word and know He will deliver the dream He gave you. Cling to God and listen for his answer.”

What a statement my mother gave me. I didn’t understand how powerful her words were because I wasn’t trying to hear that. She could hear it in my voice that I didn’t agree with her, but she kept speaking to me. “Son, ask God to give you an answer on what you should do. Be patient and pray that God will lead you to be a better leader and give you the focus and the strength, and the determination to get it done. Do not let the enemy distract you any longer and claim it in God’s name!”

God’s Focus For You

Her words still hadn’t hit me because I was blinded by fear, anger, and self doubt! All the things the enemy uses to take your focus off God and His plan for you. So all I said was, “yes ma’am”.

The next day after finishing my devotion my mother words became clearer in my head and I heard God’s voice right along with hers. God told me that I had to focus more on Him and it was no one’s fault but mine for not trusting Him. That I need to pray for the team because I didn’t know everyone’s situation and your mother was right, lol.

The Fire

After that, I remembered why I started writing. I remembered why I was so passionate about this company. I remembered what I asked God for when we started and I had no right to be scared, depressed, worried, or impatient with others and that six-month writers’ block was gone. I started typing again and in one day I had typed out 3 chapters. I had a meeting with the team and the fire was lite again and we were all back on track just like that.

What I learned was God can deliver His message to you from anybody. Even from our parents, no matter how grown we think we are and I just want to thank God for using my mother and blessing her with the ability to hear Your voice and I’m glad I’m a mothers boy!

I love you, mom!

These are the scriptures I read and I pray to our God Almighty that this reaches whoever He wants it to in His Son’s name Jesus Christ, AMEN! Thank you and God Bless.

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3 NLT)
