“Don’t let your “need more” attitude lead you to somewhere you don’t need to be!”
Every day God allows us to wake up is one more day closer to Judgment day. What are you doing to prepare yourself for that?
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. (Romans 2:5-8 NIV)”
I’ve spent a lot of time straddling the fence. I’ve spent a lot time living in this world and for this world. I’ve spent a lot of time letting the world define who I am and where I should be instead of letting go of me and the world’s opinions and accepting who God wants me to be and where He wants me to be; let me explain.
The world and especially this nation measures us by our worldly possessions. The size of our houses; how luxurious our cars are; what schools we attend and the size of our bank accounts are a few examples. We are either going to be poor, medium class, or rich based off our status quo on what the world holds valuable.
For a long time I got caught up in the worldly things and developed a selfish attitude for material things. I needed more clothes, shoes, bigger houses and cars; more money because the world said without it, by worldly standards, we are nothing.
Well the bible tell us that living for the world with a “need more” attitude will lead us in a direction that we do not want to be in on judgement day. You may not agree but I feel none of us “need more” fire!
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15 NIV)
God tells us that He will provide everything we need so don’t let your “need to be” attitude lead you to a place you don’t need to be based on the world rating system.
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds. And I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.” (Matthew 16:26-28 NLT)
