Repentance

Spiritual Food for Thought: Repentance…

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but can’t keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes.”-Haggai 1:5-6

Have you ever noticed that the harder you work, the more behind you seem to get? No matter how much “stuff” you have, you don’t seem satisfied? And just when it seems like you’re going to have additional money in the bank, a new need arises?

It’s easy to point fingers but consider this; most of our problems and dissatisfaction may be due to our own mis-placed priorities.

God places afflictions specifically on our lives for our own personal growth. By God’s design, we are appointed trials to helps become more disciplined in the things of God (1 Thessalonians 3:3-4).

Jesus told us to first seek His kingdom (Matthew 6:33) and all things will be added unto us. Most of us do this in reverse: addressing our needs before the matters of God!

Repentance isn’t just about a change of mind or change of philosophy; Repentance is a call to action! We must remain spiritually alive and diligent in the work of the Lord.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”-2 Peter 3:9

So true, most people do this in reverse. Most of us do seek to please our own pleasures; before pleasing God. That’s were we all go wrong. Without pleasing God first we are just looking for trouble, we must try to remember God comes first in our lives. Amen. 🙂
