Shyne On Me presents the visual for the single “Penny” from his recently released project the “Tracktice What You Preach EP“. “Penny is a song to remind us to be grateful for all that we have regardless of how much or how little.
A lot of times we say, “God is good, all the time, and all the time, God is good.” That’s a catchy phrase for the saints but do we really believe that? I’ll be the first to admit that one of my Stumbling Blocks in life is failing in the worrying department.
Being check to check sucks. You can’t afford to miss a day at work when you work a job with no sick days. Meaning for me if I miss a day it’s no pay. Everything has to go just right in order to make it into the next week. Well, when things don’t go right, or I hit a bump in the road sometimes I panic. Sometimes I just worry and don’t trust the PROCESS!
What’s the process?
The process is to trust God regardless! If all I had was one penny in my pocket I should still trust God!
The scriptures say,
““Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV
I needed this song! It did my spirit some good. Although I may be check to check I need to be, and should be thankful for the check period! It’s a lot of people who don’t even have that!
Shyne On Me nailed “Penny” right on the head! Shyne expressed where our faith, values, and gratitude should be in the first place. Sometimes we just have to quit whining about what we don’t have and be thankful for what we do have.
The hook says,
Long as I’m living even if I’m down to my last penny I still have so much more to be thankful for!
