Spiritual Food for thought: Transforming Our Thinking
Bishop T. D. Jakes made a good point yesterday as I watched a recording of his sermon on Oprah’s Life Class. His topic was on the importance of us transforming our thinking. Oftentimes, we remain stuck in whatever year our troubles began. We want to blame others for the reason we remain “stuck.” By transforming our minds, we return the power back unto ourselves rather than allowing others to determine our destiny for us.
One good point he made: you can’t drive (move) forward if you are always looking in your rear view mirror!
Paul in Philippians 3:13-14 also made a point that we can no longer look behind us if we want to achieve greater in our lives. Imagine taking a trip. How can you make room for new items (experiences) if your suitcase is already filled with old stuff (baggage)? Clean out the “closet” of your mind and watch God fill it with treasures fit for a King, or Queen: Blessings beyond measure.
Say this to yourself
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, (Philippians 3:13-14 NLT)
