Trill Will “From the Courthouse” to CHH – Exclusive Artist Interview

Trill Will has became one of my favorite CHH artist fast. With his consistency of scriptures in his lyrics and metaphors plus punch lines he is easy too like.

I am also bias of where he his from in my favoritisms as we share some of the same trials, trails, and streets as youngsters. It’s kinda hard not to pull for the home team.?

We want to publicly thank Trill Will for taking the time to sit down and chop it it up with us. “Thank you.”

Enjoy Trill Will “From the Courthouse” to CHH – Interview:

Where are you from?

Birmingham, Alabama.

Describe your upbringing?

Raised by momma, never knew who or what a dad was. Middle child out of 4 siblings. Grew up in the early 90s in a neighborhood flooded with prostitutes, drugs, and Crips. I had no older role models, started my own small time crew.

I also gravitated into a short stint as an amateur boxer but then began drinking and selling drugs, made a name for me as a nightclub fighter and gangsta rapper.

How did you come to Christ, (your salvation story)?

In the county jail awaiting trial facing 20 years I began to read my bible. I found the characters relatable. Then over the months I began to collect a cell full of bibles and workout. My body thanked me, and my spirit thanked God.

What was your first introduction to music?

My older cousin, a Crip, introduced me to Eazy-E and Wu-Tang Clan. Later on, Bone Thugs, DMX, Master-P, the LOX, Eminem, and Nas were all influences in my own aspiring rap career, albeit a VERY non-Christian message.

How did u get into CHH?

Out on bond, still facing 20 years I was cycling through new music on YouTube and stumbled across Bizzle rhyming over Nas’s Ether beat. I had never heard somebody rap so talented, and accurate for the Lord.

How do you feel about CHH as a whole?

I think the work is plenty but the laborers are few. I think it’s an oversaturated market because it looks so cool on social media.

What are positives?

The ones who are really selfless and pushing the true gospel of Christ are the positives. It presents salvation through an avenue (hip-hop) that is normally used to push drugs and death.

What are some of the negatives?

It gets branded and put in a box. RAP fans hear the word Christian in front of it and turn it off. CHRISTIANS, hear the word hip-hop behind it and turn it off.

Nobody takes time to cipher through the true talents and true message, to line it up with the Word of God and or apply the lyrics to their life.

When did you know you were called to change lives for God in your music?

Sitting in court on the 4th time they took me to trial I was alone and I asked God to show me he was present. My bible opened to Isaiah 61:1.

That night I was up writing on one the many gospel raps I had been jotting in an iPod. And I said, this is it! This is what that bible-verse was talking about.

Tell us about the new album/EP? Upcoming Project?

“Watch and Pray” is on the way. It’s more unapologetic than my 1st CD Soul Purpose. Since doing CHH This will be the first time I will be doing features with other artist.

Tell us about the single?

So far I don’t have a single in mind. I am juggling between two possible ones. One is bold and courageous, the other is mellow and prayerful. God will tell me which one to choose.

What do you hope people will get out of your music and upcoming projects?

I hope and PRAY they get an interest in the bible. I want to spark their thirst for this living water that is Jesus the Christ. I want people to know Him like I know Him and understand the limitless capabilities of God the father, Yahweh.

Who are u listening to that we should be listening too?

I don’t listen to much music. Bryann Trejo and Kingdom Music out of Texas. Also, Buck Barnabas “The Lazarus Effect.”

Who influenced you the most in music?

Nas… C-Murder is a close second.

Who influenced you the most in life?

My Moms. She can NOT interpret the word “Quit.”

Who would you like to work within the future?

Eshon Burgundy, Buck Barnabas, Bryann Trejo, Sevin, Keith Wallace

Favorite Bars On last Project?

“Temptation is real, AVOID the traps…/women got ulterior motives like the WAR in Iraq…

Men’ll shake ya hand and put a SWORD in ya back…/I survived both give God GLORY for that!!”

How much have you grown on this project, talent wise?

Talent wise I’m pretty much the same as always. Bone-breaking and bold, clever punchlines, no auto-tune and I don’t sing. I don’t try to make myself relevant by blending with the latest trends. I come like a warrior every time the beat drops.

How much have you grown on this project, Spiritually?

A HUGE amount. I have been far more into studying apologetics, and historical aspects of my faith whereas at first I was more, praising him merely based on personal tragedy and triumph.

One of the biggest topics in the music business now is streaming, how does that affect you as an artist?

My music doesn’t do much streaming so it affects me a lot. Me NOT streaming online, places limitations on how many people my music can reach. I will be streaming a LOT more in the future. Tell Satan, God is taking his airwaves back!

How hard is it to separate Ministry from business and both from family time?

I work full time so I try to incorporate ministry in the mist of my business. I blend spiritual advice, and biblical references, plus parables into my day-to-day work. Separating business and family is difficult because my job requires so many long hours at work. When DO finally get free time, I enjoy my wife and my 2 sons, and we blend ministry in our daily tasks and conversations.

Politics play a big role in our society as well as our hip-hop community. How do you deal with the negatives and positives of politics?

I am 99.9% absent from ANYTHING political. I have voted for presidents in the past, and some local elections but over the years I just choose to stay out of all of it. I think it is all ran by evil forces no matter which side you ride with. Everything from gun rights, to abortion, felony voting rights, immigration, taxes, ect… I take my stance according to the Bible. Plus I know how the book (the world) ends, and there is nothing we can do to change that. I focus on gathering souls and glorifying God in the mist of this non-sense.

What is your best advice for this generation?

Everything is NOT meant to be recorded on a camera-phone and put on the internet. Also, stop putting faith in technology, learn to go outdoors and work with your hands, learn to read a book.

Where can we find your music?

What’s next for you ( tour dates, new releases, etc.)?

To be honest, wherever the Holy Spirit takes me. I been doing performances at churches, giving testimonies and public speaking. Maybe online bible courses, new music videos, or an urban outreach could be in the future. It’s all up to the God of Abraham. Time will tell.

How can you be contacted for booking and collaboration?

On your longest day and hardest battle, what scripture do you find strength in?

Isaiah 40:31!!! FACTS

“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
